How four international visits helped broaden horizons, raise aspirations and create life-changing opportunities for students through the Turing Scheme.
4 International Visits | 10,000+ Miles Travelled | Geneva, Berlin, Singapore & Estepona | Life-Changing Experiences for Students
Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust wanted to provide students with meaningful international experiences through the UK Government’s Turing Scheme. The aim was not simply to organise overseas visits, but to create opportunities that would develop independence, resilience, cultural understanding and global awareness, particularly for students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to travel abroad.
Many participating students had never travelled internationally before, making careful planning, support and risk management essential to the success of the programme.
The Solution
Working in partnership with Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust and St John’s School, SLT Tours supported the planning and delivery of four international mobility visits throughout the academic year:
- Geneva, Switzerland
- Berlin, Germany
- Singapore
- Estepona, Spain
Across the programme, students travelled more than 10,000 miles, with some experiencing long-haul flights of up to 13 hours for the first time.
Every visit was carefully designed to support the objectives of the Turing Scheme, combining educational, cultural and personal development opportunities whilst ensuring safe, well-managed and enjoyable experiences for both students and staff.
Our role included:
- Programme planning and logistics
- Flights, accommodation and transport
- Educational visit administration
- Risk management and travel support
- Dedicated on-tour management
- Ongoing support before, during and after travel
The Impact
The programme delivered far more than international travel.
Students were exposed to new cultures, different ways of life and experiences that broadened their horizons and raised aspirations for the future.
The visits helped participants develop:
- Independence
- Confidence
- Resilience
- Cultural awareness
- Global understanding
- Personal and social skills
For many students, the experience represented a significant milestone in their personal development and provided opportunities that may otherwise have been beyond reach.
Client Feedback

“These experiences go far beyond traditional educational trips. They are transformative opportunities, designed to foster independence, resilience and cultural understanding in our students.”
“Many of our young people have not previously travelled outside of their local area; through this project, they have been given access to life-changing international experiences that broaden their horizons and raise aspirations.”
A Partnership Approach
The success of the programme was built on close collaboration between Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust, St John’s School and SLT Tours.
Reflecting on the partnership, Trust Turing Scheme Manager Thomas Young commented:
“The partnership between St John’s, Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust and SLT Tours has been a key factor in the success of our Turing Scheme programme. The relationship has developed with ease and professionalism, and it has been a genuine pleasure to work collaboratively with you.”
Looking Ahead
The success of this year’s programme has created a strong foundation for future international mobility projects and continued opportunities for students to access life-changing educational experiences overseas.
